This is a friendly reminder from the Office of Student Financial Aid (FAO) of some important things we would like you to be aware of as we start processing FAFSAs for the 2019-2020 school year. First, if you have already submitted a FAFSA for the upcoming school year, THANK YOU for taking this important step towards completing your financial aid.
Also, below are some additional things to keep in mind:
- In an effort to expedite the awarding process, we will alert you via email or letter if your FAFSA is incomplete, or has been selected by the Dept. of Education for a process known as “verification.” Included in the correspondence will be any forms necessary to correct your FAFSA. Please keep a watch out for our request. The sooner we can finalize awards, the more likely everything a student is eligible to receive will still be available.
- Whether or not your FAFSA has been selected for verification, we will enter a Preliminary Award that you will be able to review. However, awards on MYWesley will not be official until after the spring semester grades have been posted
- Once awards are official, we will post a notice on MyWesley that you may now accept your awards with instructions on how to do so.
- Lastly, parents, whether approved or denied the Federal PLUS Loan in the past, must complete a new application each year at the studentloans.gov website. Applications will open for the new school year in April 2019.
